Tutoring & Writing Assistance
I’m experienced as both a teacher, writing center consultant, and mentor/coach for writers in community settings, and I love working with writers of all types on diverse projects.
Struggling with a class assignment, thesis, or dissertation? Building content for resumes, websites, or other professional materials? Need someone to bounce ideas off of while writing your wedding vows? Want to re-design a document you use at work? Whether you have something specific to work on or just generally want to become a better writer, I’m happy to help just once or on an ongoing basis.

I can offer writing workshops on specific writing types or general research and writing strategies on the following topics:

Resumes, Websites, and other Professional Genres
Professional Presentations and Posters
Writing for Personal Growth
Research Skills and Writing Strategies
Trauma-Informed Research and Writing Practices
Working with Diverse Students (especially students experiencing trauma/distress)
Mentoring Students
Skills and Strategies for New College Instructors
Translating Trauma-Informed Practices to Diverse Settings
Decades of research in social work, psychology, and related clinical fields have established and refined best principles and practices for working with trauma-survivors in ways that minimize retraumatization and promote resilience. Yet it’s not clear to many non-clinicians how to translate this research to their own work, which often looks very different than the work social workers, therapists, and other clinicians do.
As a non-clinician myself who recognizes recognizes the impact of trauma on people I work with, this concern resonates with me. Having studied psychological trauma for 7 years during graduate studies, I now specialize in helping non-clinicians bridge that gap between theory and practice, by providing strategies, tools, resources, and practice exercises to help individuals or organizations.
In the past, I have partnered with experts in Trauma-Informed Care to develop training workshops and materials on trauma-informed practices for the following settings:
College Writing Classes
Community Engagement Projects (in Writing Studies, Exercise Physiology, and other fields; see a review here)
Qualitative Research (especially interview studies)
